In what I thought was a routine plugin update, I updated GeoDirectory, not knowing it was for Version 2. Subsequently, the Version 2 plugin crashed my site and I had to delete GeoDirectory in order to even get my site to work again. Then when I went to simply add GeoDirectory again to my site, all that is available is Version 2. Since I don’t want Version 2, at least not now, I would like to have Version 1 back.

As far as I can see, you’ve eliminated any way for someone to download Version 1. Therefore, I no longer have GeoDirectory on my site and can’t get it without downloading Version 2. This shouldn’t be my only option.

I’m a paying member and would like what I paid for to work correctly. Can you please provide a link so that I can download Version 1 so I can get GeoDirectory working on my site again? Thank you.

    Hi,

you can find previous versions here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/geodirectory/advanced/ (scroll to the bottom)

Just FYI, this should teach you the importance of creating backups of your website.

    Thanks

I do appreciate the link and the words of wisdom.

Question, I’ve downloaded versinon 1.6.38 and also downloaded the supplement plugins for GeoDirectory. But, when I go to open an Event or Place I have created before, I keep getting an “Oops! That page can’t be found.”

Why is it that I can see it in my Places or Events section of WP Admin, but it won’t show up on the main site? Does that mean that content is gone or is there a box I haven’t checked or something?

I tried updating the Place or Event to see if that would make it show up, to no avail.

    Thank you for your assistance.

Did you launch the converstion tool after upgrading to V2? If yes, you must have a backup of your database.

    Thanks

I honestly don’t remember launching the conversion tool for V2. I updated the plugin, saw it made my site no longer work the way it was before even getting errors on some pages, deleted all the GeoDirectoy plugins that had been updated, then reinstalled them.

It doesn’t seem like the database is lost. It just seems like the plugin isn’t pulling the content.

Are you suggesting that if I were to upload my sql backup, it should work fine?

To give more insight, I just added a new Place, with information from one of my previous Places, and the new Place came up fine.

I found the information about the previous Place in Place Subfolder of GeoDirectory in my WP Admin. So, it does exist somewhere. 🙂

Just hoping I don’t have to add every Place and Event again. Thanks for your assistance.

Most likely you did launch the conversion tool or your places would be there.

Don’t you have a backup of your site?

If not, please provide a link, cpanel / FTP and admin credentials and we’ll help you complete the conversion.

    It’s really not that difficult.

    Thanks

I figured out how to make the Places work. The only problem left is with the Event Manager. Whenever I click on Events in the Menu Bar, the word Events seems to be tied to an old events company I used to use, instead of GeoDirectory. When I click on a specific event in GD Event Listings widget in the right sidebar, the event comes up as Page Not Found.

This seems to be a URL or Permalink issue that I can’t figure out how to fix.

If you like to see what I’m referring to, the site is http://vegas.travelivery.com/

    Your help is appreciated.

Well, it seems to have worked itself out. All is well with my site now.

    I appreciate your efforts.
