the page in questions is altigo3.joelmharrison.com/location
I had an issue with the virtual pages pulling in a blank sidebar from my theme so I changed the default position to none and added the sidebar in on each page separately. that fixed it on the pages other than the location and add-listings page. it is still pulling in the sidebar and the options in wordpress say “sidebar position -> none”.
This might be an issue with my theme “Aegaeus” from HB-themes but I’m not sure.
Any suggestions?
September 28, 2014 at 8:27 pm #16789Hi,
could you try to set the page template to “full width” (edit the page, and you will find a drop down on the right hand side of the editor page)September 28, 2014 at 8:48 pm #16801Okay well all I needed to do was actually click a different post type and update, then go back to default and update. So that’s fixed.
Secondary question though. My map on the locations page goes outside the frame of the page a bit, can I adjust that? Its a responsive webpage and when the size is shrunk down the map fits the page properly but just when its at full size it sticks out the right hand side.
September 28, 2014 at 8:50 pm #16803Try to decrease the pixels in the widget (GD > Gmap – Home Page) default is 960px
September 28, 2014 at 9:35 pm #16815Perfect thanks that worked.
However, back to the sidebar issue. Something in my theme must be retarded.
The blank sidebars were shown on the virtual pages, I published them, and now they’re fine. However it’s showing up on the listing Details page. Because this isn’t a page I can just publish I’m screwed right?
September 29, 2014 at 5:45 am #16837It could be a sidebar, or it might just be the virtual page is not displaying at full width. Is there a way to edit the virtual page’s aspects? or to force it to access a page template that is full width?
September 29, 2014 at 3:50 pm #16863Hi,
In a semi related issue…the sidebars do not show up for my listing or detail pages. Sorry if this is a simple setting that I haven’t been able to find. I fear it might be a compatibility issue. I added the compat x plugin that solved some other issues.
thanks
September 29, 2014 at 9:36 pm #16921Hi Stepoutbuffalo – which stack are you using on X theme? Could you post your details in a private reply so that i can take a look, thanks
September 29, 2014 at 10:03 pm #16930This reply has been marked as private.September 30, 2014 at 7:54 am #16945Hi – you are not using the X theme, so the X compatibility plugin won’t be suitable for you.
September 30, 2014 at 11:23 am #16958This is what the listings look like without the x theme plugin. They seem to show up in the footer. Any suggestions?
thanks
September 30, 2014 at 11:23 am #16959September 30, 2014 at 11:28 am #16960You could add this to your child theme’s style.css file to clear the footer
#footer { clear: both; }September 30, 2014 at 11:39 am #16961Thanks. That seemed to get everything above the footer, but the sidebar is below the main content. Any additional suggestions? http://stepoutbuffalo.net/places/feature/
September 30, 2014 at 3:13 pm #16987Yes – you have set your sidebar width too big so it won’t fit next to your content. Drop it to 30% and you’ll be good to go 🙂
