can't install GD Framework 1.2.4

wp 4.4

just tried to install GeoDirectory_framework_1.2.4.zip but got the following message:

Installing Plugin from uploaded file: GeoDirectory_framework_1.2.4.zip

Unpacking the package…

Installing the plugin…

The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.

Plugin install failed.

Return to Plugins page

other GD plugins have so far seemed to install okay

any ideas?
