I am so sorry to bother you but having installed this plug-in, I have tried the pain to the desired location to set the “default location”. However when I tried to save this it is insisting that I enter a “country”.

When I select the drop down for “country”, there are no entries available except the prompt “select a country”. I’m not sure why I am not seeing any country to select.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    My sincere thanks

That suggests either a plugin conflict or the installation gone wrong a little and not installing the country list.
If you de-activate other plugins, does it fix itself?
Can you post your WP admin details and URL in a private reply, then we can start there.

    Hi,

sorry about this, it appears that a database table is missing. Please provide FTP and phpmyadmin credentials and we will fix that.

    Let us know,

    Thanks

    HI Geoff,

All the create tabel queries are failing, i guess the user does not have the correct permissions for the table, if you can give him create and modify permissions great or if you have some sort of hosting control panel i can take a look.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

We have spoken with the web hosting company and they say that full permissions would have been given when the account was created. We don’t want to buy additional add-ons until the plug-in is working correctly so please please help us out.

We can’t give you access to any other Control Panel as it would also give access to numerous other customer accounts. If you’re sure that it is a table issue then could you send the tables or even a complete database over to me and I can import it?

    Hi Geoff,

I managed to find the exact error being thrown “Unknown character set: ‘utf8mb4′” and it seems to be because your MySQL version is too old, you are running version: 5.0.83 WordPress recommends 5.6 https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/

Once you upgrade your server then please go to GD>GT Tools>clear all version numbers, this will make the script install the missing databases.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

Stiofan utf8mb4 is the newer character set used by WordPress.
I tried changing to UTF8 and it broke the website.
Why can we not use Geodirectory with the current utf8mb4 character set?

    Its really important.

    Hi Geoff,

What you said did not make sense… Did you update the server MySQL version?

We dont have any ability to update the MySQL version. We either have to use V4 or V5 and we are using V5.

    Hi,

WordPress recommends 5.6 or newer. Your hosting provider is running version: 5.0.83.

Either you ask to your hosting provider to update to a version that is recommended for WP to work well or in case they refuse to do so, the only option will be to move to a better hosting provider.

We can’t make GD word with that version of MySQL.

    Thanks
