The search field should be left to allow them to find locations for listings that are available on the site, but they should be prohibited from finding locations near something and “My location”

GD > Settings > Locations tab > Show Advanced > Enable location search autocompleter? > NO

And I also thought it would be possible not to show a block of category buttons if there are no listings for this type of listing for this location on the page. Is this difficult to do?

Set the GD Categories element to NOT show empty categories, for example with this shortcode:

    [gd_categories hide_empty="1"]

Let us know if I misunderstood.

    Thanks

Regarding the first answer. “GD > Settings > Locations tab > Show Advanced > Enable location search autocompleter? > NO” applied only to the search filter field, but not to the Location Switcher. If you want to find Paris in the Location Switcher at https://dev.verni.com.ua/ (but there are no listings in Paris), the location switch will prompt you to select “Near: Paris, France”. If the user does this, he will get a page with an empty map, but with a large list of category buttons that are not Parisian 🙁 https://dev.verni.com.ua/location/near/gps/48.856614,2.3522219000000177/.

However, your second answer does not help either. [gd_categories hide_empty=”1″] does not show categories with a number of listings of “0”, but shows everything that does not apply to Paris.

It turns out that the location, which is not yet recorded in the database – will give the result near and a list of category buttons of all locations that exist in the database. I think this is an error.

This is a very important problem for visitors to the site. They will search for the location they need, but will get a large list of category buttons, where there will be no information corresponding to their search query.

Will you be able to fix this bug before a new version is released? It determines my time of launching the site. When I bought the license, I expected that there would be no such errors:(

gd_categories will not filter for near/me. That is a feature we plan to review for future versions.

Disabling autocomplete for the location switcher is not possible because it would completely disable the feature.

We appreciate your reporting the issues and we will consider adding and updating based on your suggestions in a future version.

More specifically, gd_categories should filter for near/me, and show the categories that are present in the listings with the requested location.

Can I get an approximate timeline for changes? 1 week, 1 month or more? It really affects what I do next: delay the launch of the site or look for other options for navigation and site design.

We will consider making changes but we don’t have a timeline for you.

Okay, I look forward to it.
