categories with the number 1

So while I’m learning how geodirectory works, and fiddling around with things…and at some point with the dummy content…I apparently had duplicate categories. And I apparently didn’t notice that when I deleted the duplicates, I deleted the originals and not the duplicates. So now I have some place categories that I just noticed have a -1 after them. I would much prefer them to not have the number 1, as it would be much tidier. But I have tried just editing and it won’t change. So that tells me that somewhere the originals still exist. But I don’t know where. I assume in a trash somewhere…but I have no idea where a trash for place categories would be where I could dump it?? Could someone help please? And yes, I have checked my tags too and these aren’t tags as well.
