On this page though I’m having problems displaying the location description at the bottom of the page. I’ve added the location description widget underneath the locations widget, but it displays at the top of the page…

    Can you help please?

    Hi Eva,

I checked location description for “Brisbane City” location but yet no description added there. See https://smartaussies.com.au/wp-admin/admin.php?page=gd-settings&tab=locations&section=add_location&location_id=2
Add description to show on front-end side.

    Hi Kiran

Thanks for checking into that and pointing it out. I was actually following the instructions in the v2 documentation where it said to enter the location descriptions in the category settings. I had entered it under accommodation, qld, brisbane…

Is that the wrong place to do it from?

    Hello Eva,

    Let me clarify between descriptions.
One description is “location description” which is displayed to show description for the location. “Location Description” widget/shortcode is used to this description. This description can be added from GeoDirectory > Settings > Locations > Countries/Regions/Cities > Edit.

Other description is “category description” which is displaced on category pages to show description for the category for particular description(or common for all location). “Category Description” widget/shortcode is used to this description. This description can be added from CPT(Places) > Categories > Edit Category > Description for each country/region/city or set common for country/region/city.

    Let us know.

    Thanks,
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran

Tried it out, so what I wanted was location description but unfortunately it doesn’t allow me to upload images with a download link like the category description does… I was going to share tourism docs. Anyhow I added a description for Brisbane (Does it adds city on the end by default?) and when I look at the details for a listing in Brisbane it doesn’t display beneath locations at the bottom of the page. (Back to my initial problem!) I’ve set the location description widget on the gd bottom area but it’s not displaying. Please see screen shots… Any ideas?

    Hi Alex,

Thank you for doing that and sharing the edit link. It’s bizarre because I had just entered a description & uploaded an image before checking & submitting this topic. lol

I updated the text & included an image and the text displays but not the image…

Did you put an image in the location description field?

Or, you mean the Location image , there? About the second one, I will ask the developers the status of that feature.

No I didn’t try entering the image in the location description field. I entered it in the image field. I could try that though! 🙂
