    Is there a shortcode or way to post a link to just one specific category. And if so, is there a way to hide it if empty ?

    GD Categories will provide links to categories, and has an option to hide empty categories. It can be limited to a single category but there isn’t a way to specify which specific category. You could also try GD Single Taxonomy or GD Post Meta for categories on the details page.
