    Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your tremendous help the last 6 months! Our new site went live about 10 days ago and GD Support has been the key to making it happen. No new listings have been added in that time but new events have been added. However, I just noticed the permalink didn’t get configured with location and/or category in the slug. Yikes!

I’m scared to make the permalink change without checking in with you all to be sure I don’t mess anything up.

This is what the places permalink is: https://thelocaldish.com/places/super-natural-chocolate-company/

If I change it to https://thelocaldish.com/listing/region/city/super-natural-chocolate-company in WP Permalinks:
    1. Do I need to do anything else in the process?
    2. At what point in the process do I change the Places:Settings:General Post Type labels?
    2. Are there SEO or UX downsides to having such a long url?
    3. What is the downside if I don’t change the permalink?

Many, many huge thanks to the entire support team!

    Barb

    1. listing = CPT Slug, right? what about category? – We recommend you just use the full location and category setting.
    2. Any time
    2. No
    3. Do it now rather than later. You may have duplicates that will cause 404s later.

    Thanks!
    Just a couple followup questions:
    1) what steps do we need to take to prevent category-1 in our permalink, such as restaurants-1. All our categories have a -1 in the slug and I’m not tech savvy enough to know why.
    2) Since the site is already live, when changing from the default permalink setting to a custom permalink, do I make that change first or change the CPT labels first?

    Thanks!

    1. If it occurs you can use this guide: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/better-search-replace-plugin/
2 . Either one, sooner rather than later. Save the permalinks twice after the last change you make, whichever one it is.
