So, a while back I inquired here how to replace the word “Places” and “Place” through out this plugin and I was told I need to use a PO editor and edit the geodirectory-en_US.po file in the /plugins/geodirectory/geodirectory-languages/ directory.

That was working for a while until the last, or second to last upgrade. Now, editing that PO file does absolutely nothing. I have checked file permissions and the changes I’m making are being saved with the correct read/write permissions.

So I’m back to square one now – how do you change wording in this plugin??

    Hi,

if you leave the file inside the original folder, every update will overwrite it.

You have to save your geodirectory-en_US.mo file in wp-content/languages/geodirectory/

Please see documentation for more info: http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/translate-core/

    Thanks

Yes I know. I just downloaded the po and mo files. Used the po editor to update the po file, re-uploaded the files but I still see Places:

It is the MO file that makes the translations work, not the PO file.
Did you move the files to the location Paolo says:
    wp-content/languages/geodirectory/geodirectory-en_US.mo
    not
    /plugins/geodirectory/geodirectory-languages/geodirectory-en_US.mo
    like you write.

I cannot login your FTP to check:
