I love GD, but I think that the claim process is too cumbersome. Here’s what I’d like to do to make the claim process easier. I’m using UsersWP for login and registration.

    1. When clicking on “business owner” the user is redirected to the login page. However, I would prefer that they are redirected to the register page. Is that possible?

    2. After registering, the user is redirected to the profile page. That redirect is due to the setting that I have in UsersWP for register redirect. While I like new users who aren’t claiming listings to get redirected to the profile page, I don’t think it makes sense for the claim listing process.

Is it possible to set a redirect for claim listings that return to the claimed listing after registration?

If not, do you have another suggestion that would enable the user to link to the claimed listing from the profile page.

The problem I see is that if a newly registered user is dropped off at the profile page, they will have to a) navigate back to the search form, b) search for their listing, c) click again on the “business owner” link, d) fill out the claim form and e) wait for email to arrive, then click on the link in the email. That’s a lot of steps and the users that I’ve asked to test this process get lost and can’t figure out how to claim their listings.

    Thanks

We will be looking at this when we start work on V2.

You bring up some good points about how the UsersWP features could improve the experience.

Unfortunately, the claim listing process cannot be changed in V1 without a heavy customization.

    1. When clicking on “business owner” the user is redirected to the login page. However, I would prefer that they are redirected to the register page. Is that possible?

The GD Login/Registration are on the same page. This is something we will keep in mind for V2, though.

Is it possible to set a redirect for claim listings that return to the claimed listing after registration?

If you do not set a different redirect, then WP default behavior applies, and the user should be redirected back to the listing, if it was the claim listing button that directed them to login. Just remove the UsersWP redirect to see it in action.

We sincerely want the process to be as smooth as possible. There are many changes in store for GDV2, and we will be looking at this very closely.

I’m looking forward to V2! In the meanwhile, it seems to me like there are some bugs in the UsersWP integration with GD. Since I upgraded to UsersWP 1.0.13 the login redirect broke. Now, no matter what page I pick for the “login redirect page” option, it redirects to the homepage. The register redirect page option does still work.

Please let me know if this is a bug.

With regard to future enhancements, It would be great if you could better integrate UsersWP with the GD claim process. Here’s what I think would be a good process for users who use GD Listing Claim and UsersWP.

    1. Non-logged in user finds an unclaimed listing and clicks on “business owner”.
    2. User is redirected to a UsersWP register form that is customized for the claim listing process in that the form includes the fields that are now in the claim-listing popup.
    3. There should be an option in the claim listing plugin to auto-approve claims so that no email authorization is required. If that no-authorization option is enabled, after registering, the user should be redirected to the edit listing page for the listing that they are trying to claim so that they can fill out the front end form and update their listing.
    4. If authorization is required, then they should be redirected back to the listing page.
