Closed Down Listing Status

We have moved to a support ticketing system and our forums are now closed.

    I would like listings that have a ‘closed down’ status to remain available when searched for on the website.

    But when the page is visited a notice is displayed saying ‘We believe this business has closed’.

    And with all contact details other than address being hidden.

    The reason I ask for this is that people are searching for businesses without knowing they have closed, if they find that info on my site that is a positive.

    That isn’t currently possible.

    Instead of using the post status for closed, you can add a custom field for “Open for business, Closed – Out of business” and leave the post as published.

    Good idea,

    However I would need these listings to not appear in category pages.

    They must also only show when a visitor searches for that company name only (so not when the search is matched by content in description or tags etc). Otherwise the site categories would end up showing more closed listings that open eventually.

    So I didn’t expect this to be an easy one, but perhaps a feature request?

    Certainly, we have had a couple requests to revisit the ‘closed’ features and I will make a note of your ideas.
