Comments not working for some listings

    Hello! My site has a couple CPTs and for one of them, “bands,” I hope to encourage user comments. I am seeing comments enabled for most but not all of the 140 bands on my site. It seems that the date posted is critical. Bands posted before April 25th or so allow comments and bands posted afterwards do not. This post date is significant because the site admin (me) imported listings before April 25th and then most/all of the listings posted after that were created via the “create new listing” UI.

    I would really like comments to work for all my bands. Thanks for any help!

    PS: I tried already deactivating Jetpack and deactivating GD Booster and that did not change anything.

    PPS: For my other CPT “Porches” (aka “Places”) I have used CSS to hide comments from the detail page FYI

    Hi,

    in Custom Post Types >> Bands >> Advanced >> Supports

    you disabled comments.

    Thanks, Paolo for your prompt investigation. Checking that box has no effect that I can see. regardless, the old bands allow comments and the newer bands do not allow comments. How can I allow comments for all bands?

    You need to check that box and than bulk edit new listings to include comments.

    ufff… every band that I bulk edited has a 404 broken page now 🙁

    All the bands i did not bulk edit have working pages

    I have put my site into maintenance mode and may roll back to this morning’s backup

    Try to edit one of the listings that are returning 404 and click the update button. Let us know if that fixes it.

    Yes that fixed it. thanks.
    I have about 60 bands now to update like that but that’s better than restoring my 3am backup I guess
