I am using the premium version of yoast. I noticed that my site is not showing up in the ranking until very late in the pages.

I reached out to Yoast team to ask why. Here is there quote:

    “Hi Steve!

Thanks for granting us access to your website.

I checked your WordPress setup and didn’t find anything wrong with your configuration. I also searched for your website on Google and it does seem to be indexed (see attached screenshot). I also reviewed your sitemaps and I confirm they are technically correct.

One thing I did noticed is that the canonical link of your home page is set to http://whatshappeningtoday.com/location/united-states/california/jackson/ This isn’t good for your SEO since search engines may remove your home page from the search results. Please, refer to this article for more information about canonicals.

If you haven’t read it yet, I’d recommend you check out The Definitive Guide To Higher Rankings For WordPress Sites.

Additionally, you may want to go to Google Search Console and check if there are any errors that may be influencing your rankings.”

So here is the question, where do I go to change the “Conical link” so that I can improve the rankings?

    Kind regards,

    Hi,

the home canonical URL of your home page is correct, see image attached.

They probably had changed location to Jackson and didn’t notice a session was active.

    Thanks
