Is there a way to have this setting like an html area with a text editor? I tried deactivating it and all the cpts for a class were no longer visible.

Can you explain better what setting you are talking about?
Do you mean the default custom field Category (taxonomy)?
You cannot deactivate that because WP does not work for posts without categories.

Yes. You got it correct. I would be nice if this had a text editor type of feature/function instead of just a bunch of text that runs together.

Once again I apologize. I suffer from ADD on steriods and dislexia too.. Here is picture of the Taxonomy “text” allows one to display to viewer-users viewing profile

As you can see all the sentences run together. Unlike an EK editor / text editor as we have in the HTML (I do not know what you call it) fields that can be added to the Settings.

I have included to pics. One with the label Taxonomy and the other with HTML.

I would be nice if the Listing Description allowed for text layout/format at the html pic does.

Not sure why you are referring to taxonomies that in WP are tags and catgeories, while in the picture you are talking about the listing description.

To answer to your question, yes you can add the html editor to the decription field.

Go to GeoDirectory >> Design >> Listings >> Add Listing Form Settings >> Show description field as editor and enable for the CPT needed.

    Thanks
