Hi, we’re having some trouble setting the default category. We’ve made our default categories in the csv to be the first ones as stated here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/default-category/
We’re using years and countries as categories and would like the default category to be the country. This would give us the ability to use the following url format (mysite.com/location/south-africa)
Yet, upon import it still sets the default category to the year even though we have the country first in our csv.
Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂
February 27, 2017 at 12:06 pm #364088Hi there,
Please share the CSV file in a zip folder and share WP temp admin access to your Website so that we could check on it.
Thanks!

Another question: Democratic Republic of Congo is not seen as a location, i did some googling and it seems you are using the following format: “Congo, Democratic Republic of the”
How would i put that in the csv without that comma “Congo, Democratic…” making things difficult?
February 27, 2017 at 3:40 pm #364184@guust I’m sorry, but this does not help as we are not using any of Geo Directories’ other pages ONLY the map. We are however utilizing the url eg. mysite.com/location/country to be able to link from another site to that country. So what happens is that you click on a link on another site and it takes you to the map, already opening the country with it’s pins.
I’ve noticed that the country categories we have are set as default(thank you for pointing it out), however i have to physically edit(just open and update) one of the listings in a country …eg. Algeria – only then does the map for Algeria load with pins. (We believe this to be a bug) – without doing the physical update the map simply doesn’t load.
And then there is still the issue we have with DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) – i’ve managed to create a simple listing using “Congo, Democratic Republic of the” (as you have it) to see what the format looks like in csv, but when i edit the listing again, it again asks for a Country… and as result, no country/map page (mysite.com/location/country) – no records…
Help on this would be appreciated as we have a deadline we’re working towards.
Thank you.February 27, 2017 at 7:59 pm #364248Hi,

I’m really sorry about these inconveniences, especially because I’m unable to find anything wrong in what you did.
There must be a bug or a server config problem causing this unexpected behavior.
I asked to the developers to have a look at your case, please don’t change the credentials until they have the time to test.
They’ll let us know asap.
Thanks for your patience,
February 28, 2017 at 7:51 am #364310Hi Marelize,
– Default country seems working fine as expected. Please check i have imported few listings to test it.
– You country name like “Congo, Democratic Republic of the” / “Congo, Republic of the” in post_country column in csv file.
I have imported on listing under “Congo, Democratic Republic of the” see http://maps.exxafrica.com/location/congo-democratic-republic-of-the/
– http://maps.exxafrica.com/location/tunisia/ http://maps.exxafrica.com/location/algeria/ working fine after running tool from GeoDirectory -> GD Tools -> Sync GD Categories & Location category countsYou have blank location names set for default location, set correct location as a default location under GeoDirectory -> MultiLocations -> Manage Location. there should not blank entries in locations table.
You have double for same countries like “Democratic Republic of the Congo” & “Congo, Democratic Republic of the”. There should be one country and correct one is “Congo, Democratic Republic of the”Please provide FTP & Database details so we can fix double entries for same country.
FYI: Once you done with checkin, you can delete test listings created for test by me.
Let us know.
Thanks,

It is good to import first less listings (around 100) with “Congo, Democratic Republic of the” for test purpose. But make sure country names must be same as in countries table.
If you are going to import on fresh data then first setup all the configuration correctly, like default location, location settings, permalinks, google map api etc.
Please check first around 100 listings and tell us how it goes. Then if you find any problem just let us know.
Kiran
