Having issues when uploading data via csv file. The leading 0’s in the zip field are not sticking. Question: is the zip field a number or text field. If number, is there a way to change it to a text field to see if that will result in the 0’s carrying over after uploading?

    Hi Jonathan,

are you using excel to edit the file? If you are, you should only use open office or libre office.

CSV files don’t have cell formatting at all. Everything you write in it should stick all the time.

I’ve only see things like that happening with excel.

    Let us know,

    Thanks

Nah, leading 0’s still won’t carry over in Open Office.

    I can confirm this.
Even when first creating a listing with ZIP code 04032 for example, the export drops the leading zero.
If trying to add the zero and re-importing, it drops it again.
The only way to add a leading zero is to add it in the backend or frontend.

I’ll get a developer to have a closer look.

    Thanks

Great, thank you. Hate to have to do it manually, as I have thousands to upload.

    Hi Jonathan,

During open CSV file in OpenOffice/LibreOffice choose column type “Text”, this will keep leading zeros for values. By default it column type is Standard and it trims the leading zero.

Check following links to know more:

I have tested with csv import and it keeps leading zero in zip value.
