I wanted to voice my frustrations with the a couple aspects of GD. I’m sure some of it is a result of my own shortcomings or lack of understanding, but I will say it, regardless.

    1) Why does GD have to have a custom meta table? This makes it incompatible with other plugins.

    2) The method of creating “archive items”….. sucks… I needed to integrate a directory with another project and I ended up using Crocoblock’s JetEngine with WeDevs Front End manager instead of GD. The problem with the “archive item” method that GD uses is that 1) in order to hide images, I have to include the image in the HTML markup and then use display:none to hide the image. This is WILDLY inefficient. The second bummer about the GD method is that you are stuck with a single “archive item” template regardless of the post type. So, suppose you want your “Places” styled differently than your “Events”, well… too bad. You are stuck working within the limitations of CSS.

    Hi Jeremy Rangel,

Thanks for your post. Please allow me to answer your questions accordingly.

    1. GD Post Metas can only be used within GD.

    2. Not really sure about this and could you elaborate a little bit more? Perhaps you can share some screenshots and the URL of the page in questions?

    1. This is about efficiency for scale to millions of posts.

    2. Each CPT can have a different archive item template. See: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/templates/archive-item/
