Custom page for Event overview

I managed to create a custom overview page for the listings and select this as GD homepage in the settings.

Now I want to do the same for Events. I created a custom page called /events on my site, but when I click the URL, an automated page shows up. I changed the event page slug-setting in the “custom post type” setting to /event-list and hoped that helps. But it does not.

How can I have my customised page appear to be seen when clicking the URL /events?
