    Hi there,

    Is there a way to add custom text to the top of each type of listing or custom post type page?

    So – a user clicks on Events, and at the top of the Events page, above the listings, I would like to add Event specific text there.

    Not the same text on all of the listings pages.

    Thank you.

    You can add category specific text at
    Events > Event categories > edit any of your categories > Category Top Description

    Thanks

    I’ve added text here but it still doesn’t appear.

    Do I need to have a specific widget in the GD Listing Top area to display it?

    On this page we recommend the Widget Logic plugin for using widgets based on various rules.

    This is a great way to avoid using custom code.

    Let us know if that meets your needs.

    Oh! I see. I didn’t realise there was a further level down.

    (i.e. events (all) and events (the category I created).

    How can I avoid this duplication? I only need a single events listing, so this will cause two pages to be identical on my site.

    Hello!
    You can hide various information from visitors with CSS like this, and customize based on your needs:

    span.geodir-category {
        display: none;
    }

    In this case, you might only want to hide the category on events pages:

    .type-gd_event span.geodir-category {
        display: none;
    }

    Customize as needed to fit your case.

    Let us know how it works out for you

    All CPTs need categories, and each listing needs to be in at least one category.
    Without posts [listings] being in at least one category, WordPress will not be able to work correctly.

    Thanks

    Ah, I see – okay, I can do that.
    I didn’t realise that was the structure of the pages.

    Thank you Alex and Guust!
