    Hi,

I’d like to customise the text that is displayed after a user adds a listing (see image). Whereabouts do I have control over this?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

That text can be changed by translating the plugin language file.

    Hi Alex,

I tried following those instructions, but I couldn’t seem to find a simple explanation of changing the source English text … I ended up just modifying the “geodirectory-en_US.po” file (https://ayecode.b-cdn.net/public_html/wp-content/plugins/geodirectory/languages/geodirectory-en_US.po) which contained the strings that I wanted to change, however it made no difference on the live site.

Could you give me more info on how to update the 2 strings:
“Post received, your listing may need to be reviewed before going live, you can preview it %shere%s.” and
“Post received, your listing is now live and can be viewed %shere%s.”

    Thanks!
    Andrew

    That is correct.

If you want to change the english version then you just change the values in the en_US file.

However, the instructions are clear about where the file should be stored

    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/translation/overview/#core

    /wp-content/languages/plugins/geodirectory-en_US.mo
    /wp-content/languages/plugins/geodirectory-en_US.po

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for that – I updated those files as per the instructions and placed them in the directory /wp-content/languages/plugins/, however still had no luck.

I then reverted my changes back and tried using the ‘Loco Translate’ WP plugin to make the translations, however they’re still not being reflected on the site.

Do I need to restart any plugin/service or anything like that to enforce changes?

Thanks for your help and sorry for the hassle!

No, you just need to make sure your site is actually set to en_US.

The files should be loaded automatically in that case.

If it isn’t working you can share WP Admin and FTP and we can give it a look see.

The po file is in the right place and the translated string is definitely changed.

I will ask the team to take a look and see if they can find what I am missing.

    Hello Andrew,

There was a minor bug particularly in that text, there was a wrong text domain there for that text. I have fixed it and updated on your site too.

Please check and let us know.

    Thanks for spotting.
