    Customizing Geodirectories Permalink Structure

    Stiofan

Went through the Geodirectory settings. Tons of options available for permastructure.

But it would be awesome if we could do this: (highlighted in bold)

    1) http://example.com/places/south-carolina/greenville/electricians/
    2) http://example.com/south-carolina/greenville/electricians/

    3) http://example.com/places/greenville/grand-central-wiring-home-audio-video/
    4) http://example.com/greenville/grand-central-wiring-home-audio-video/

    So here’s what I did.

I emailed a buddy of mine in Poland. Macie’s the owner of Perma Links Manager. He gave me a FREE copy of the plugin to see if it would work. Set up a test website.

Just for knowledge, here was why Macie says his plugin will not work after our testing.

Also gave an unintentional review for you guys 🙂

    Jason,
I took a look and the code quality of Geodirectory plugin is really good.

When it comes to this URL format (single places), it is possible and I will write a custom integration for this plugin:

    http://example.com/places/south-carolina/greenville/the-liberty-bell-center/

I am only afraid that it will not be possible to get rid of “places” in this permalinks (used to filter both: place category & place location at once)

    http://exampe.com/places/south-carolina/greenville/feature/

We decided to uninstall Perma Links Manager Pro from the test website.

Here’s what Macie did come up with for (Single Places). I’ll attach it in a text document. This code works. I wanted to run all this by you guys. Is there a better way to do this?

Is there any way we could have the option for #2 and #4 above (options in bold. I’m wanting to remove places only from the slug. Not from breadcrumbs.

When we removed places with the permalinks plugin, it removed our state and city also. We don’t want that. We only want to remove places.

Sorry to be difficult, Googles on a big kick above shorter URLS :/

Curious if this is even possible. Wanted to get the experts feedback…
