I just found that if I click on one listing in a CPT, the location is automatically locked to the city where the listing belongs to. Even I click the CPT trying to load all listing for that CPT, because location is locked, only listings of that city will appear.
I understand user can change the location manually. However, some users might not notice the location lock. It took me 15s to realize this when trying to navigate through pages, and suddenly find that number of pages was reduced significantly.
It makes sense if this is locked to State/region level, especially for a multi-country directory. For city level, it might be too specific, not really practical for commercial directory, at least it is true for our case.
As for directory, if results being too specific, result quantity will be much less, dis-encourage business to advertise due to less competition in search results. Well, results being specific is good for non-profit making directory project tho.
Is there way to configure this to lock on state/region level rather than city?
thanks
