Detailed itinerary -> open in navigation?

    Hi Guys,

    Do you have any idea if this is possible :

    instead of having a text itinerary under the map in a listing, can it be a button to open the “link” in a navigation app from mobile?

    I know that if it would happen, a hit on the link would give the choice to open in any installed navi app on the mobile device, i also know that the code can be edited to do so, but i also know that a plugin update would remove it…

    Do you think it can be done in a permanent manner please?

    We have a custom field type called “Get directions” you can add this from GD > Place settings > Predefined Fields > Get Directions.
    This will add a get directions link which on mobile will open google maps and show you directions to the place, is this what you are after?

    Hi Guust,

    thanks for your answer, yes it is what i am looking for except that it opens in Google Maps as per design, any idea how to make give a choice between installed navigation apps? (i know there is a bit of code for that…)

    Hi Pat,

    You would need to check if that is possible first, if it is then you could add your own custom field like our GET directions and have different options.

    well, if i could do this it would be done long time 🙂
    i have seen in a forum post that a user had same request, and he showed an image from his mobile asking which navigation app to use when he hits an “address” link…

    That would be a so cool feature to add to wpgeodirectory…
    Anyway, think we can survive with google maps

    me again, hi all…

    any idea why this predefined field would not be enabled when i try to add it in Places Settings?

    I can add just any other predefined field but not that one, and strange thing, when i hover on it it displays the description of the Twitter predefined field…
