    Hi GD team,

This is really annoying as we want to move to csv import but somehow the listing photos show different depending on if we create a listing manually or with csv upload.

Manual Creation of the following listing, all images are 600 high:

CSV import, all images are 600 high:
    LINK 2 in private message

As you can see in the second csv uploaded listing the images appear way too large in the listing despite the fact that they are the same size as the images in the manually created listing.

How can we fix this and images xyz px x 600 px are displayed always like in the first listing above?

I think what is happening is that when adding a listing in frontend or backend, the image gets resized as per GD > Design > Home tab > Resize image large size > If unchecked then default geodirectory image large size ( max 800×800 ) will be used.

If uploading via CSV and then the image by FTP, there is no re-sizing happening.

I’ll get a developer to confirm that is what is happening.

    Thanks

    Hello,

In manual creation we have image to resize during saving the listing data. While in import you have to upload images after data imported and saved successfully.
So during import there is no chance of resizing image. You have to upload images in folder after resizing manually or you can upload it by going to edit listing.

    Hi Kiran and Kor,

Thanks! This is really important for us and we need to get this right, as we are about to upload 2500 listings via csv…
As Kiran suggested, there is obviously no way for us to manually edit every listing and load the photos up manually so it would be great to find a way to get to the same result otherwise the csv upload into GD is a bit useless 🙁

Obviously we want a consistent look across all listings.
When we manually created the listings we manually uploaded images with an image height of 600px as recommended by GD. Then as you said GD will automatically resize the images which does not happen with the csv upload.
If we want to get the same visual result in a csv upload what size do we have to manually resize before the FTP Upload? I think its 387px but can’t be sure…

We are able to manually resize the images before the upload for some listings as long as we know to what we have to resize BUT:
We are about to get a file from an accommodation provider with 2500 listing and about 10,000 images, but we will most likely get them as links to their database.
Obviously those images we can’t resize, do you have any ideas on how we can force them into the same format as the images from manual listings i.e. perform the same resize process GD performs when a listing is manually created?
Is there a way to manually kick this off in bulk, instead of by editing one by one?

Thanks so much for your help on this, and fingers crossed we will manage to make this work with minimum manual effort for each listing, it will make or break our directory 🙂

    Thanks,
    Rafaela

    Hello,

Upload & resize images during CSV imports takes too much time when there are thousands of listings and it may results in server timeout problem. That’s why we allowed users to upload images directly in media folder after CSV import completed.

There are many plugins available that allows bulk images resize. Here is one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/imsanity/
After taking backup you can resize all images available on your directory. 🙂
