display only subcategories

    Hi,

    in my main menu I display all categories, the subcategories are not displayed. When clicking on one of the categories I want in the next step only the subcategories displayed as recommendation and not all categories. Currently all categories and subcategories are shown on every page.

    I use just one custom post type and in there i have all categories with its subcategories.
    What would you suggest? Do I have to use custom post types for every single category or is there another way to solve that issue.
