Hi, I experimented with geodirectory location manager. I can change the city by going to my top menu and clicking on the location Icon, it then pops a box were I can click to select my city.

I only have 20 cities that I will be serving. I wish I could have a drop down menu next to the “search for” in the advance search box to select my city, but instead, I get an option to type my city, but if I don’t know the available cities nothing shows. Only when I start typing one of the correct cities I get the autofiler to show me a city to select. Is there a way to turn this “Near” box into a dropdown many showing my 20 cities to select from?

    Thank you.

    Hi Rigots,

Unfortunately, that would require customization and I’d suggest that you find a developer to do this for you here https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/forum/geodirectory-jobs/ . Also, I’d like you to know that the search functionality is only used for searching the listing and choosing a location is not really used for searching. I hope this clears it up.

    Thanks!

    OK, thank you.
Is there a way to narrow down the cities?
I want to focus only in all cities in bay area in California.
The advance search already works with all 20,000 cities in US but I don’t want user to post with cities outside the bay area, is there a way to narrow the cities that people use to post?
This way they can only select from a list of cities that I select when posting their listing?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

in GeoDirectory >> MultiLocations you can restrict the directory to even only 1 city if you want.

Or 1 region (California) and a selection of cities within that State.

Let us know how it goes,

    Thanks

Hi,this worked great for setting only the cities I want. Thank you.

I was also able to figure out how to put a category pull down menu on front page and if I search with an empty string with my category selected it does exactly want I want. It lists all the category items in the selected category when I press the search button.

So, I would like to know if I can remove the “Search for” box only in the font page. This way no one can type anything on it before pressing the search button.

If I need to add code in the styles CSS to remove these, which file do I need to modify? or can I add that CSS code at ‘Geodirectory->Design->Scrips’ at the ‘Custom style css code’ box?

    Thank you.

No file needs to be modified.
Please provide a link and we’ll provide the CSS code.
    Thanks
