Drop down menu for place or event categories

    Hi

    I guess this is an easy one but I checked the widgets and I can not work out a way to get a drop down menu for all the place or event categories. Something like the “popular post category” but in drop down menu and showing all the categories rather than just the popular ones.

    In geotheme was call the “custom categories”

    Please advise?

    The popular post category does show all the categories, but the only reason it is called popular is because it shows the number of listings in a particular category for the page you have navigated to.
    There currently is no other category widget that gives you a drop down menu.

    hi

    Dissapointed! Getting the count is a step forward from what we had on Geotheme but removing the drop down menu (or at least the option to choose it) is two steps backwards…What happens if I have 100 categories and click on “more catgories”. A bit messy!!!!
    is there any plans to create one? is there any plugin I can use to get all the categories on a drop down menu?

    there are several plugins to list custom post type categories out there.

    Did you test any of them?

    Hi Paolo

    i installed the plugin and at a first look it looks perfect but I do not think it works well along with geodirectory because I always get the same error if I select events or place categories(Epic 404 – Article Not Found).however It works fine when I select wordpress posts.

    I may have done something wrong and I do not have much time at the moment but I will keep testing.

    done a bit more testing and funny enough the plugin works fine (with place and event categories) as long as I do not select “display as a drop down” which was the point of installing this plugin…Any other plugin that you could suggest??

    Hi,

    not really, but maybe we can tweak this to make it work. Sounds like an option.

    What URL does it redirect to when dropdown is selected? Can you send me a link and wp admin credentials to test?

    Hi,

    I don’t know if it’s because of the plugin or because of GD that the redirect is wrong.

    I’m installing the plugin in one of my test website to see if I can quickly fix it.

    no not yet, we are in the middle of testing and releasing the new versions and few new products.
