Duplicate Records from CSV Upload

    I need some advice and/or help from someone about a problem I’m having: I uploaded a CSV file and stupidly click the import button more than once causing a couple of hundred records to be duplicated. I began deleting the dupes as I found them but realized this would take a long time so I deleted everything and started over. When I uploaded a sample file with a few records I saw that the name of the place has a number appended to it in the permalink (-2, -3, etc. depending on number of duplicates entered previously). This is unacceptable but I don’t know how to avoid it. Any advice?

    Hi Sal
    You will need to do some work in your database.
    When importing the data WP created slugs for the pages, and because there were duplicates, it has appended a number to it.
    When deleting the listings, that does not always delete everything else in some database tables.
    You can go into phpAdmin and start searching for the slugs you want to delete, but you can accidentally delete the wrong stuff, so do not attempt this if you are not familiar with phpMyAdmin and WP tables.

    Otherwise, post your control panel details, and I’ll alert Paolo.

    Can you confirm the site you are talking about, i see one site you posted but it does not seem to be the db for it, i’m a little confused…

    can you pass me wp-admin? If you say there are no important information, then i would just drop all tables and start again with a fresh install of WP? If not then i can look.

    Hi Sfamilia,

    there is a much easier solution for this.

    After deleting all posts, you have to also empty the trash. This will prevent the progressive numbers to be added to the slugs.
