Has any thought been given to opening GD up for integration with existing eCommerce plugins? I realize GD is in the very early stages of development, but the existing payment solution is very rudimentary. Wouldn’t it be easier to integrate with an existing WP eCommerce platform than build it from scratch?
We’ve just released our first GD-based site (torontomindbody.org), but decided to go with a two month “free trial” in hope that Stripe support (with recurring payments) is available by September. If not, we’re basically screwed.
We are about to start building another site that will use WooCommerce, Sensei and GD. It will be very confusing for customers to have one payment solution for place and event listings, and another for online courses. We could use memberships, but then we can’t do things like featured listings.
As it stands, GD is a fantastic business directory, a not too shabby event calendar and a poor eCommerce platform. Be good at what you’re good at, and build hooks for everything else.
