Hi! I am trying to use Elementor to customize the Details page, but I am having no luck.
I created colums, to display some of the content side by side, but once I display the page the parallel layout is ignored.
Help would be highly appreciated!
AndreasMarch 23, 2020 at 12:14 am #536130Hello, i have exactly the same problem. im using the free elementor plugin and the hello theme.
Only GD Location page works, here i can edit everything with elementor…
on all other pages it shows only the defaults and the elementor changes have no effect…Best regards

March 23, 2020 at 8:34 am #536193You can use the Elementor Free page builder on the GD Archive Item and Location page templates.
You will need Elementor Pro Theme Builder feature for the GD Details, Archive, and Search templates.

In fact, what I would like to accomplish are two things:
(1) to have the picture be much smaller. The “size” switch in the shortcode doesn’t seem to have any effect.
(2) and I would like to be able to put it next to the information, rather than above it.
Basically, I would like the section above the “tabs” to look like the Archiv item: smaller picture, basic info next to the picture.
Is that possible to accomplish with some shortcode?
And: Why does the “size” switch in the gd_images have no effect on the display size of the picture? Or rather, what effect does it have, if not that?
March 23, 2020 at 11:41 am #5362541. You can adjust your layout, like, the column width, to squeeze the space to decrease the area that the image can fill. Images will always grow into the available space.
2. Again, you can create columns with your builder.
The ‘right’ image will always be loaded by WP Automatically. The image size param is a suggestion to WP but WP will load the right size based on responsive size of the space the image will be filling.
March 23, 2020 at 12:00 pm #536259Alright! Yes, that’s what I tried to do with the column and the page builder.
So, if I understand it correctly, without the theme builder, there is no way to style the details page that way?
Like, on the GD Archive Item page, I can use shortcode like [gd_archive_item_section type=’open’ position=’left’] to make a two-column layout, without using actual page layout.
This shortcode only works on archive items. But is there shortcode, that does the same thing to the Details page?
March 23, 2020 at 12:29 pm #536267Well, you can always use CSS and HTML.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/faq/common-examples/#columns
gd_archive_item_section is only for GD Archive item, correct.
March 23, 2020 at 1:20 pm #536274Or you can use blocks …
March 23, 2020 at 7:00 pm #536340Yes!! With WP Blocks it works! Oh, happy day!
I don’t understand though, why it doesn’t work with elementors columns. Is it maybe an Elementor issue? Have you had better results with Beaver Builder?
In the long run I would like to be able to use a page builder. The styling options of blocks are pretty limited, but for a beta version I can get by for now.
March 24, 2020 at 8:33 am #536427Is there a reason why it works with blocks, but not with elementor-made columns and containers?
March 24, 2020 at 10:09 am #536445All page builders use different ways, and WP blocks are part of WP, and page builders do not use WP blocks …
March 24, 2020 at 3:25 pm #536516Well, with the theme builder it works like a charm now.
March 24, 2020 at 9:38 pm #536585Good, glad to hear it.
