Email to commenter when comments is approved- not being sent

    Hi, when a new comment is submitted on a listing, a mail is sent to the listing owner as well as admin BCC. However, the mail to the commenter (which is enabled in settings>email) on approval of the comments is not sent. The comment is automatically approved and published on the site and deos not require approval -in admin>comments is showing as approved, so why is the email not being sent even though enabled?

    I checked with the email log and that is also not showing the comment author email in the log.

    PS- the comment author email somehow also does not appear in the email options> admin bcc emails list of mails for admin bcc- somehow its differnt from others?

    Comments are not set for moderation and are published immediately. Set them for moderation to engage those emails.

    Hi Alex, so i couldnt find a GD/CPT setting to set comments for auto/manual approval- is htat in WP setting>Discussion also applied to GD reviews?
    However with auto approval still, the comments from WP posts do still trigger email to comment author,so shouldnt GD comment also do that ?

    The setting in WP – Discuss to moderate comments also applies to comments with reviews, yes.

    GD comments that are not moderated do not trigger a moderation approval email, no.

    Thanks, Alex. Can you please advise if changing the trigger from moderation approval to submission for GD comments, will be an quick & easy customisation like changing a filter (as i suspect), or will it be more complex one? Any pointers where to do this will help me decide whether i really should do this or change moderation settings or just live without the mail.

    Hi vivek,

    you can try the code snippet below to trigger reviews email on submission instead of after moderation.

    we do not recommend this way because if you allow comments without moderation, you may end up with spam reviews.
