Please move to applicable forum section if this is not the right one!

Is there a reason why some submissions on the enquiry form (contact form 7) embedded in listings would not make it to the registered user but only sporadically?

A user emailed me yesterday to say he’d been sent two messages via the enquiry form but had received none (they are sent directly to the users registered email address and i receive copies of all so could verify this). I sent a test one via his listing. Also not received. He sent himself 3 test ones over the course of yesterday and received all yet he got his wife to send several and they didn’t come through.

I have done a check of 10 random listings this morning all with test input, including his listing, and have received them all but the user is right in that randomly some he has been sent have not been received.

Any ideas or anything that would make an enquiry form input not make it to the end user?

    Thanks

    Hello!

You can install the Email Log and get some data together to correlate incidents with conditions.

Having a log will certainly help with diagnosis.

I have run some tests and set up a duplicate listing to see if this resolves. I have deduced that the error only occurs if the email entered in the enquiry form is a Hotmail address (com or co.uk). This seems to be the case for all enquires to all listings via the listing ‘send enquiry’ form. Everything else seems to be delivered even if the domain name is fictitious. I have tested with a VPN from various European locations and all are delivered except the hotmail ones? Any idea why this may be domain specific. It is the embedded ‘send enquiry’ contact form, on the listings.

    Thanks

Also, please could you advise where on the GD I can edit the ‘enquiry sent successfully’ message that appears on the listing sidebar when an enquiry has been sent as I cannot find this! Thanks

    Hello!

That confirmation message is in the core plugin translation files.

The following articles are a brief introduction to the world of transactional emails and some considerations about using WordPress to send email. The number of commercial emails that are actually reaching the inbox is on the decline across the web and every site owner should consider taking steps to improve their email deliverability.
