    Good Day,

I have created an additional CPT to display Online Events. Online events do not require geographic information so I have disabled ‘Physical Location’ setting in GeoDirectory > General settings > ‘Select CPT to disable physical location’.

This seems to have removed the ‘Event Schedule’ Custom Field as well. I presume this is because GD sees the CPT as a place and not event Custom Post Type. How can I associate my CPT with the Events CPT so these custom fields become available?

I still require the Events CPT as is activated by the Events Add-On plugin.

I have tried adding my own Custom field but only have option for Date and have no option for ‘Event start date’ or ‘Event end date’ and ‘All day’ etc. as is required for Schema markup.

    Hello,

CPTs with dates do not behave exactly the same as ‘Events’ from the Events manager.

However, removing the location should not have removed the date field.

Have you checked in the CPT’s settings -> Custom Fields to see if the field is still there?

For adding the Date, yes, you will have to change the label of the Date field to be start date or other custom label as specific there.

We have another article about how to create different event types here, please take a look:

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for your reply and the link. The crux of the situation is as stated in the article: ‘you can only have one Event Custom Post Type’.

The main issue is that I would like the event to resolve with Event Structured Markup.
Event Markup does however require: Location, Address, Name of event, Start and end time of event, Description of event, Image and possibly Information about tickets and prices.

GeoDirectory schema gets derived from the Event Category and there is no Online Event Schema so will settle with ‘Event’ schema and see what the outcome is.

I will create a test post and report back here.

Event schema is available to place categories, but not recommended because it would require customization to manage custom fields as schema entries.

There is an example of that here:

What is the problem with using the ‘category method’ for adding ‘another’ event type as shown in the link above?
