events listings 404 error

We have moved to a support ticketing system and our forums are now closed.

    I have tried using the events addon however when ever I click on the events category I get a 404 error page.
    I did previously have a page called events, now deleted and removed from trash, (and have tried various other plugins), could this be creating some sort of problem with the permalink structure?
    Any help would be appreciated,
