Exporting/ updating categories on cpts

    Good morning.

    I have 4 CPT’s.
    They all have identical Categories
    CTP 1 is the CPT that I “update” with newly added categories. Since all CPTs have and should be “updated” I am asking you to verify how I should upload to CPTs 2-4.

    I know how to export and then import but, I do not want to end up with duplications as I did in a prior attempt because it took a great deaol of time to delete the duplicates.

    So, which radio button am I to tick when uploading to 2-4 cpts. My choices are:
    1. – Update listing if post ID already exists.
    2. – Ignore listing if post ID already exists.

    If you are exporting categories from one CPT for import to another you will need to make changes to the export before re-import, removing the ID and changing the post type. Then to minimize errors probably remove all the existing categories. Then import with option 1.

    Hello Alex. Will this cause existing listing 2-4 to lose the categories already assigned?

    I am just in design phase and not beta testers have registered yet.

    If you are talking about listings, then you should not remove the post ID if your intention is to update the listings. You should select option 1 to update the listings.

    I think I will copy and past the new categories into a blank template form for the others and remove the ids.
