I have just imported my categories list using the GD Importer which worked successfully (1 failed, it would be nice if the system told us which line failed).

I wanted to export the list so that I can quickly see what ID’s were assigned to each category and also to find out which category failed to import.

When viewing the export csv the cyrillic characters are changed and I can’t make sense of the data.

    See attachments.

FYI issue relates to character encoding, export CSV’s should be using UTF8 to preserve these unicode characters.

    Hi Ashley,

Enable debugging from WordPress root file wp-config.php and then try to import again. It will log line no. in debug.log which contains error. Mostly illegal characters in row results in fails to import.

Provide us site link, admin credentials and FTP credentials if you don’t know how to do this.

    Regards,
    Kiran
