    Is there anyway to show a custom image when posting a place category link

    Similar to what happens if you post a page and the featured image is shown

    The image that comes up is the default image that I set in Yoast SEO.

    Isn’t this doing what you need? I’m asking because I’m still unsure I understand the question properly…

    Sorry, I haven’t explained myself correctly.

    Yes, the default image I have set in Yoast is appearing in Facebook if I paste in a URL from the place categories.

    However this is not the outcome wanted.

    I wished to be able to set a custom image related to that/each category and that image to be shown if a “place category” URL is pasted into facebook

    Similar to what is possible when setting a “featured image” in a WP page/post

    I hope that makes sense, please let me know if it doesn’t

    Ok I understand Yoast is allowing 1 image for all categories, while you want one for each.

    We have category description and category default image, I asked to the developers to let us know if one of them would be used by facebook too.

    They’ll let you know asap.

    Turns out its already a feature of Yoast: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/custom-open-graph-tags/

    If you make a change you can run the url through the facebook linter to update the image/text https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
