Hi,

You have to ask your hosting provider about if the session directory is writable or not as it seems the error is due to session directory access is denied. The plugin is trying to start the session using function session_start() which you can mention to your hosting provider. Once this is fixed you can convert V1 to V2 as per the instructions are given here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/installation/#convert

Hello guys,
okay, I am now running on GDV2. However – my site (theme surpreme directory) looks completely different now and functionality is lost.

Just to mention 2 issues:

1) My front page is not my front page anymore. Now there is a new front page named “location” – featuring a completely different image and look, the map is not loading a single listing.

2) The main and sub menu is gone. I used to be able to adjust this via GD -> Settings -> Design -> Navigation. Where do I find the settings for the menu now?

Guys, really. My mobile phone provider also runs major system updates every now and then and after each update things look slightly different but I can go on and work with it.

With your update I have to spend hours, maybe days, to start again from scratch to see how things work now and to try and make my site look and work like before. This is not what an update is supposed to do with its users.

Sorry, but I am not impressed at all.

V2 is a major update, which is why we highly recommend it be done on a staging server first. After the initial upgrade it will be back to normal with easy updates.

If you have more questions about GDV2, please post a new topic to the appropriate V2 subforum. This topic was about the converter and that has been resolved.
