    a) Now I’ve finally got the CPT plugin V1 installed (different site though, I have 2 on GD V1) I wish to add Jobs. I can’t sort the navigation. The GD endpoint to add the page Add Job is not there. I tried adding it to the menu manually with sub categories but this is not the solution.

    b) I know I have to upgrade to V1 soon but I want to try this out first. I assume these settings will be lost when I upgrade as there is no automatic upgrade for CPT V1, please confirm.

Advice on endpoint please. I have noticed before that this is not visible in screen option choices.
    Many thanks,
    Sue

    1. Try a custom link like https://my site.com/add-listing/?listing_type=gd_job (your add listing page + the cpt?)

Share login here in a private reply if you need us to check.

    2. Custom Post Types can be uprgaded to V2, yes.

    Why delay?

    a) I tried the link you suggested as it was with the correct domain and my add Job page came up BUT it didn’t from the navigation bar on the website. I got a ‘not found’. I looked at the URL for Add Place and copied the format which worked:

    add-listing/?listing_type=gd_job

I need to remember this for when I add more.

    b) I delay because I’m busy and have started new sites with GD V2. I wanted to familiarise myself with that first. Also when you do these upgrades there are always unforeseen problems. You need time for checking all is ok too. GT to GD was not straightforward with a site I began in 2012 which wasn’t even responsive then! It had been through all versions of GT from the very beginning. I’ll get round to it.

I see that the CPT plugin now has automatic updates which it didn’t a while back which is why I assumed settings wouldn’t be saved as you had to delete it and install the new version.

    Thanks, Alex.

OK, all working for now, then?

Let us know if you run into any blockers.

    Hi Sue,

Category field was disabled from “GeoDirectory > Place Settings > Custom Fields > Category”. I have enabled it and assigned a category to that job listing. Now issue is fixed.

    Check and let us know.

    Best Regards,
    Kiran

    Thanks very much, Kiran.

So I know for the next time I add a CPT, please could you explain more fully? I can’t see/find exactly what you have done in the reasoning above in GD>place setting. Job setting?

The listing is showing perfectly now, thanks.

    All the best,
    Sue

All custom fields have an option to make them inactive. Setting it to “Active” was the solution.
