GD Home page with latest blog posts

    Hi – I would like my home page to have the functionality of GD home with a search bar across the top (just under the header), however I also want it to show last blog posts so that it is ‘newsy’. I can only seem to get the search bar across the top if it is GD home as a static home page. Can you help, thanks

    Sure I can do that but just to clarify what the question is:

    On GD Home there is a “Top Section” where I have placed the advanced search tool.

    However I would like the homepage to actually be the blog post page rather than a static page but if I set it as the blog post page then the option of a “Top Section” doesn’t seem to be available.

    So is it possible to have the blog post page as the home page and maintain a “Top Section” in which I can place widgets such as the search tool?

    Hi Rachel,

    you could try using a blog post widget in the GD Home widget areas to put your blog content on the GD Home page.

    The GD Home template will override any other content on the page set as the GD Home page except for the GD Home widget area.

    What many members choose to do is to have a completely separate page as their WordPress Front: Static page, and use some GD widgets there, but also include a link to the GD Home called “directory” or something similar.
