    Hi

on one Site have the following situation:there are 3 CPT’s and an events list.

Now I wanted to show a map with the CPT that shows only the markers for all listings from that particular CPT similar to how it works on the GMap Home Page widget but without the CPT selector bar at the bottom and the category list on the right.

So far I had tried the following:

Using the GMap Home Page widget, but that sticks with the same CPT when I switch to an other CPT

Using the GMap Listing Page widget, but that shows just the markers for the displayed records on the listing page

I was searching around in the available documentation, but couldn’t find a solution.

Any hint is highly welcome 🙂

    Hi,

you should be able to do it with listings map shortcode: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-shortcodes/#listing

    Let us know,

    Thanks

    Hi paolo

thanks for the hint, I tried the following shortcode:

    [gd_listing_map width=100% height=300 scrollwheel=false autozoom=true marker_cluster=1]

but that does the same like the GMap Listing Page Widget. Instead of all locations it just shows the 8 that are displayed on the page.

    Hi,

on the listings page it is not possible to achieve what you are trying to do. The map will always only show the listings that are present on the page.

My suggestion was for a custom page.

    Thanks

    Hi paolo

thanks for your reply, that’s really very sad to hear :-(((

Could this feature maybe expected in the near future?

I guess it shouldn’t be too difficult to make it happen.

I think this would add some more value to the already great GeoDirectory 🙂

    Best regards

    Hi,

we only add whatever is requested by many in the community. This isn’t a popular request at all so I wouldn’t expect it.

TBH it would be also very bad for UX to show a different number of listings in the map and below the map…

    Thanks

Well – I have the complete contrary opinion specially about the UX and marketing aspect.

From what I have seen in practice, specially by mobile users, is that they rather poke around on the map than typing into a search box. And mobile users are the PB&J for a directory nowadays.

    Just my humble opinion

I wonder how stiofan thinks about that

    Hi paolo

just found that I’m not the only one requesting this feature as there is a 3 year old request in your feature request system.

Yes and as I said it is not a popular request at all.

    Thanks

    Hi Paolo

    never mind

When I went through the code of the widget, it looks like the option for “Show all listings on map? (not just page list)” is or was sort of already in there.

So I will try to make an own widget when I get time to do that.

Hi, have you had any success with this? It is a feature that i would really like. It is very misleading currently as a user looking at the map would think we only have 20 listings on the site!

    Hi Mandy

Sorry about the late reply, just noticed your message.

The good news is that I could resolve the issue in my case easier then I thought.

I just made a new page and added the GD Map Home Page Widget in the GD Home Top Section.

Then I set this page as the GD Home in Permalinks – so people have the choice to browser the directory via map or via text listings.
