I am hoping someone has seen this before.. Yesterday I had this really cool looking GD registration page and it also had a link at the bottom to login. It started out something like “registering for this site is easy…”

That page was always accessible via mobile, the upper left hand screen is icon of person and click on register to see that registration page.

It’s not there anymore. Now it forwards back to the homepage.

I have Geodirectory V2 with buddypress and I turned off the settings in bp to associate the registration page and activation page in the bp settings – set them to pages (none)

I have the box checked for allow anyone to register in the wp admin settings / general.

I am unsure what happened, but i would greatly appreciate any input or advice. I did go to pages and I used to see a gd-login page, but no longer see that. instead I see a login page I created with the old gd vq shortcodes in it, that didn’t work.

I really just wanted someone to be able to register in GD like it was and I don’t know how to get it back to that way… please help

    Chris

    Hello,

GDV2 uses the default WP registration/login by default.

With BuddyPress installed you can set the BP options for Login and Registration.

If you want more than what is offered through the GD-BP integration you can try out UsersWP

Yes that is correct Alex, that matches up with all the documentation i have seen for the past 8 months on gdv2. However, I am wondering how I had a page 2 days ago (gd-login) that was clearly GDV2 as it was different from gdv1 and it was a login page as well as a register page. In said, something like “registering for this site is easy”….

That’s NOT BP or USersWP or WP.

This was brand new and showed up after i upgraded directory starter to the v2, after realizing i had gdv2 installed with supreme directory v2 – IT LOADED UP and worked PERFECTLY.

How do I get that back?

I get it, gdv2 was created with wp login in mind, and all the documentation that you guys have shared states that…. however that is no longer accurate as i saw differently. The documentation that you guys created and supported months ago was correct then, however gdv2 does in fact support its own login now and Instead of being fed the typical use this plugin or that plugin, I was hoping to have a real conversation with you guys about what is happening with my website and thought you guys would be curious to know and assist and we could learn together.

Instead it feels as though I am just given standard protocol answers bc some folks are overwhelmed or overloaded. No one even logged in to look at the issue. I am feeling a little hurt and disappointed man.

You sure you don’t want to take a look, log in, and have a conversation about it, try to get to the bottom of it? I didn’t think I was asking for too much, was I?

Maybe we could both learn something =)

    Thanks again

I am really anxious to get my website set up properly and I love that there is so much doccumentation for this theme and how it works togehter – its one of a kind!

I am just confused bc I saw somehting, it worked great and I wanted to continue to use it like that, how I had set up v1 to work.

I already have a registration page for bp that works, however I like the GD version, what it says how its eady to register for the site and it looks so clean.

Sure i can just activate the bp registration and then learn how to redirect the login from the gdv2 homepage on a mobile it still has the icon of a person on the left hand side and you can click login and register – those are actually GDV2 on there – to buddypress registration? How would I do that? That seems like a ton more work bc I have no clue how to do that or

How do I stop the redirection thats in the website when viewing on mobile and click on register or lost password or login – it redirects, how do i correct that?

The icon of person on upper left screen DID go away at first wehn installing gdv2 however – when i updated the supreme directory and directory starter to v2 it not only came back – IT WORKED PERFECTLY. Can you guys there help me straighten this out?

    Thank you

    Chris

    HI Chris,

I’m not sure what you were seeing, but GDv2 and Supreme V2 do not have a login or registration page.

    Thanks

Anyone be able to post a couple links point to the best documentation on where to change the forwarding urls? I am totally confused here and if needs to be bp thats fine – that part is already done. but how do i change where the register link points to ? Thats when you see it on mobile, the upper left hand screen has the icon of a person, just like v1. and when you click on it it brings up your recent login, also has register and forgot pw link.

Is all of that changeable inside bp or GD?

    Thanks

    Chris

    my apolgies palo

    I probably wasn’t describing it correctly…

If you view my site (listed above in private) on any mobile device – in the upper left hand corner is an icon of a person silloutte – exactly like in gdv1.

When i updated to version 2 the icon was still there, but when you clicked = it was blank no links no text.

Now that I upgraded to supremem v2 and directory starter v2 – its back and it has links that say register and forgot password and also has the most recent login email and pw sitting there – exactly like how gd v1 worked.

I am wondering if anyone can view that on a mobile device to see what i am seeing – bc i am sure i am not explaining it correctly. I love GD but i don’t understand it sometimes and i look for video tutorials and there are only 4 on yt for v2 with that really nice irish guy speaking.

I am wondering how to proceed is all. I already have bp setup for a registration so I will use that, but I am unsure if in anyone with malicious intent, who is on a mobile device and will see that icon, will gain access to enter data or businesses or false reviews.

Thanks for all your help I appreciate it =)

The logged-out mobile view of Supreme has a user icon in the top left, and on click opens a login form, yes. The register and login links forward to WP forms (wp-login.php).

GD also has a BP integration addon https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/buddypress-integration/

GD doesn’t come with any redirection settings, but BP has ‘pages’ and UsersWP has pages plus redirection settings.

If you are interested in cutting down on Spam we recommend, for GD, https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/category/addons/

and reCaptcha is free with UsersWP: https://userswp.io/downloads/recaptcha/

Thank you Alex and everyone for your time and answering my questions. Alex, that makes sense to me now, thanks for explaining in more detail that I could understand & confirming what you see on my website.

I really appreciate your time. I am going to add the bp integration on when i get a few members and can afford it… it seems like it would make things much easiser

If you have any other links or anything informational please drop it here as well. I know you see much more of this stuff than I ever have. I will check out the recaptch and the other link as well man =)

    Thanks

One last question…Where do I have people login?

I have the register page using bp but do i also need to make a login page using bp shortcode form?

call it login and i would probably put in menu or something so its easy for registered members to login, is that correct?

ohhh is that what users wp is for? just for front end login? Im sorry man I thought that already existed in BP but im guessing that’s exactly what i need the integration for?

So the free version of front end login doesnt exist in buddypress but I can use users wp to create the login for returning members, even thought they register in bp?

Im sorry for all the quesitons, I think i am understanding now….

    thanks again
