GeoLocation Add-On question

    I got this response via email but was asked to post in the forum instead. I have a follow up question.

    GeoLocation requires the Advance Search Add-on. It is not automatic, users must authorize the browser request to share their location.

    This response is a little confusing…does the GeoLocation Advance Search Add-on allow for automatic location or will the visitors still have to authorize the browser request?

    The Advance Search Add-on will try to auto-locate, and the visitor will have to authorize for it to work.

    Hi,

    actually Google GeoLocation service requires users authorization. Only if they authorized it for the website on a previous visit they won’t have to do it again.

    I’ve purchased this add on but it doesn’t seem to work like it should, unless I’m confused with it’s capability. I’ve tried it on my own page and on the demo page as well.

    On both my site and the demo site I was not prompted for location permissions. I searched both with a blank name field within a 1 mile radius, the distance is not being observed as it pulls up all listings. Is a search field name required? What about searches where people just want to observe what’s nearby?

    I think I got it figured out. I didn’t realize that the check box and the mile distance were two separate options that you could configure for a search. It’s working. Sorry!
