Is it possible (or can the feature be added) to have the GMap-Listing Page widget display all places within view on the map. Or better, to have the ability to choose which place categories are displayed if the place happens to be within the map area?

the query of the map is the same query that populates the list. To do what you require, we would have to split the queries and make one work with even more variables.

It would double the pressure on your database for any page load and slow down performances a lot. But if many requires something like this we can think about the best way to do it…

Understood. Instead of the GMap-Listing Page widget then, can the GMap-Home Page widget have the ability to show a select number of categories within the bottom right corner of the map but have selected only the categories I choose? So if I’ve picked 5 categories within GeoDirectory/Design/Map, I’d like to have displayed 2 categories by default and the option for the other 3 categories to be selected and viewed should the viewer wish to do so.

I think this is possible. Try GeoDirectory – Design – Map

Nope, you can only choose the categories you want to display by default in that section, not the categories to include but not display until a user selects it.

Basically, I’m trying to include a map on my Details pages that includes all categories and places within the area. So, home page has a map displaying 2 out of my 5 categories, a place is selected and the user is taken to the place details page where I’d like a second map displaying the rest of the categories and places that are located within that maps range.

If the map used on the details page is the GMap-Listing widget, then the range would be based on the Map Zoom Level setting. So all listings from all categories (or a selected number of categories) that fall within the selected map Zoom Level would appear within this map on my details page. If this is not possible, perhaps a 3rd map widget can be created that has this feature, GMap-Details? It would be the exact same as the GMap-Listing widget, only this would have the option to select categories to include/hide.

Sorry, but I don’t see this as something so essential for the community that needs to be developed right now.

I see this as customization or in case many request it… as a new addon.

If someone is interested please +1.
