Q1) What is the function/purpose/benefit of having the “Box” within the GMap that displays Categories?
http://www.supremecityguides.com/location/united-states/florida/miami/
Q2) Do I need this “Box” based on how I display my CPTs & Categories? My CPTs & their Categories display under the GMap.
Thanks
Jorge
1. So can filter the listings displayed by selecting or de-selecting categories. You can always try clicking on things to see how they work.
2. The map legend changes the listings displayed. The widgets below have nothing to do with the map above it.
Thanks Guust,
1. I know what they do. My question was “what is the purpose” of displaying these categories here if they are shown below the GMap?
2. Can this “box” be deleted from displaying in the GMap?
1. If a visitor only is interested in nightlife, he can un-tick the categories on the map legend and only the nightlife will show. See image
2. https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/common-styling-examples/#legend
Thanks,
1) Couple of points/observations:
* Here again we are assuming the user to know what to do? They do not know they have to “un-tick” the all the categories they don’t want to be able to search the one they do want! I would have to tell them what to do! My “job” is to try to make it as simple as possible. If its complicated-we scare them off… not all users are savy in what to do… my opinion…
* Why go here is all the categories are under the GMap?
* What are we (users) supposed to enter in the “Title” ?
1. Most people know why tick boxes exist.
All categories are listed under the map because you added the CPT categories widget there.
You can change the categories pre-selected on the map at GD > Design > Map > Select category to untick by default on map
Visitors can search for the title of a listing in the “title” search box. For example, go to http://www.supremecityguides.com/location/ and enter “bikini hostel” in the title search box and press enter.
1. I guess then that I am not part of “most people” cause I did not know this…. just saying.-No problem! It is what it is!
2. Visitors can search for the title of a listing in the “title” search box. For example, go to http://www.supremecityguides.com/location/ and enter “bikini hostel” in the title search box and press enter.
The Bikini Hostel will only show if the user has selected Miami Beach as location.
Thanks for the info!
You can close…
2. Incorrect, the hostel will show on the following location pages:
Everywhere
United States
Florida
Miami Beach
