Just double checking that a SSL cert is required for the Google Maps API to work correctly with the core plugin so the “Oops” grey page goes.

It is required for the geolocation API, for all the near me functionality, but, you can still load maps over http.

Hi Alex, thanks for the prompt reply – so for the map to display correctly on the link below the site would need a SSL and load over HTTPS?

No, you can still load maps over http. It does not require https.

The error on that page is:

Google Maps JavaScript API error: InvalidKeyMapError

Not sure where I am going wrong. Here’s what I have done:
Installed the plugin “API KEY for Google Maps”
Used plugin in button to create API
    Added and saved API
    Added billing console
Double checked the API credentials for “Maps JavaScript API”

    Any ideas?

The only thing I haven’t done is restrict the API to the website

You do not need that plugin, just add the key to the settings at GD – Design – Maps.

The key itself is not valid though. You night have copied an extra space accidentally
You can just create a new one in the Maps settings at GD – Design – Maps

Did you setup your billing account for the API key? You will need to do that if you haven’t already done so.
