    Quick question,
I started reading into the Google maps API pricing plans and limitations etc… and in the (hypothetical) case of passing 25000 API calls (any page with map counts no?) there could be additional costs.

Now the question I was thinking how would data crawlers like FMiner or others that open and extract data affect that?
Can it cost me big money if someone maliciously crawls my site?

    Any tips/ ideas 😉

    Thanks

    Hi,

I don’t think that crawlers load maps when visiting a page, they just crawl the code.

In any case, if you go above 25k API calls, you will not get charged automatically. They will probably send you an alert and your maps will stop working until you sign up for a premium plan. In that case you will be charged $0.50 USD for 1,000 additional map loads, up to 100,000 daily extra map loads.

If you don’t want to pay, you can always switch to the Open Street Maps API which is free and i think it will always be.

    Thanks
