    Hi guys,

The GPS location isn’t sticking when I ‘Use My Location’ or use an address in the location filter.

It changes the homepage to that location, but it’s no longer carrying over for when I click into archive category pages.

It was working recently so I’ve no idea why isn’t anymore. Can you help please?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Archive URLs (category links) on the Details page and Archives are both showing the location. Can you explain more about what you are seeing?

    Hi Alex,

Sure. If you go to whatsonhub.co.uk and then go to ‘Change Location’ at the top, then type in ‘M24 2PN’, Boarshaw Road, Middleton, Manchester should come up on the autocomplete.

Select that. Then you’ll see that the homepage changes the widgets to that location. All good at that point.

But when you then go to ‘Explore’ on the top menu, when you select a category, it loses the location.

This was working fine a couple of weeks ago, but has for some reason stopped.

This error would also happen if a user selects ‘Near: My Location’ on the location switcher too.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Ah, ok, let me flag your question for a developer.

    Hi DAVID,

It is not possible to add GPS location data to archive urls. Filter with GPS & categories allowed on search page, but it not attaches GPS to categories urls on the page. It only attaches country, region, city slugs to archive urls.

    Let us know.

    Regards,
    Kiran

Oh really? Ok. I was sure they were working when I tried that example above recently.

Is there a plan to bring this to GD in future releases? That would be a great feature if the GPS coordinates and addresses could carry over into archive URLs.

    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

GPS data only used to filter results on current page if GPS set in urls, but not added to archive urls. We will consider this feature to implement in future.

    Thanks,
    Kiran
