    Hi

I am busy setting up Google Tag Manager. I see that fields such as “phone” “Email” don’t have “group” classes/text to set up the triggers with. For example, when clicking on “Website” I can use the text “Website” in the trigger.

I can understand why this is happening, but hope there is a way around this?

    Regards
    Leon

Can you share what kind of fix you are looking for, codewise? Meaning, what would/should the source look like to achieve what it is you are after?

    Hi Alex

    Thanks for the reply.

The owner of the site wants to be able to see the clicks on each listing. Whenever someone clicked on the “website”, or “Send a message”, or “Email” links. Those with hidden links and a common name like “website” gives a sitewide name “website”, but email and phone numbers are unique to each listing. These unique names can’t be set up for sitewide triggers.

Or am I missing something here? It is the first time that I am doing this on a directory site and is assuming that each sitewide trigger can be used for individual listings/pages.

Or will it be best practice to setup GTM for each individual listing?

    Regards
    Leon

I am not sure what kind of change you are looking for. If you could provide us with a sample of code for the output that would really help.

    Like,

Currently phone is <x> and we want it like <y>

    Hi Alex

Please see the 2 attached screenshots, the first one is for the “Website” link. Here it has a generic name such as “Website”. The second is the phone, but the actual number is displayed. As far as I can see, the best will be if the actual custom field’s name is displayed. In this case “Office Phone” or “Cell Phone” or “Email”…

I hope this makes sense. (If I am correct in the understanding that it is not needed to set up a unique GTM folder for each listing. If this is the case where each listing has to done separately, I believe I can work with it as is.)

    Kind regards
    Leon

    Hello,

you should contact Google Tag manager, then, and ask them what changes need to be made to the code to make those elements/items display in their interface as you wish. Is it a change in the admin field name? Once you find that out bring it back here and we can take a look.

We don’t perform customizations here in the forum, but if you need hands on help you can contact an expert here: http://geodirectoryexperts.com
